911 2.2 E
911 – 2,2 E
Interior
The black interior follows Porsche’s functional, driver-focused layout. The five-dial VDO instrument cluster places the tachometer centrally, consistent with early 911 design.
This Coupé is equipped with factory comfort seats, providing improved lateral and long-distance support compared to standard seats. The white headliner contrasts with the black interior trim, consistent with period specifications. Controls remain fully mechanical, and the thin-rim steering wheel preserves the direct steering input characteristic of early long-hood 911 models.

Engine and Transmission
Power is delivered by the 2.2-liter air-cooled flat-six equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection (MFI), producing 155 horsepower at 6,200 rpm. The green fan shroud identifies the “E” specification, positioned between the 911 T and the higher-output 911 S in the 1971 range.
The engine is paired with a 901 five-speed manual gearbox in classic dog-leg configuration (first gear down to the left), offering precise mechanical engagement. The 911 2.2 E is widely regarded as the most refined and versatile variant of the early 2.2-liter 911 lineup.

Did you know ?
The 911 2.2 E was the first “comfort performance” 911. While the T focused on affordability and the S on maximum performance, the E combined mechanical fuel injection with smoother camshafts, creating a car that was both fast and easier to drive every day.
